Sea-Change Sailing Trust – IWSA Supporter

SCST square for pc (2)

Sea-Change exists to work with young people including those who are challenged by traditional educational settings, experiencing social exclusion or at risk of offending.

IWSA Supporter

– The charity is a RYA Training Centre, RYA Sailability Foundation Centre, Member of the Association of Sail Training Organisations and a Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards Approved Activity Provider

– The charity is about to start building the first new steel Thames sailing barge since 1930

– The barge will have no engine and so will entrench real sailing skills. We are already awarded a carbon reduction certificate annually for our work under sail

– The objective is to train those not in employment, education or training (NEETS) about commercial trading between the east coast and London

-The experience will be different from conventional sail training because of the commercial imperative of trading real cargo

– Outcomes will include learning new skills and a maritime career opportunity
