This sailing coaster or buoy tender/offshore supply vessel is in an advanced state of planning, with a 800GRT coaster as it’s base version, capable of delivering substantial fuel and emissions reductions.
Project Green Coastal Transport
Assembled with loading gear and all the necessary facilities for a buoy tender and a freighter. The hatch cover, laid with recycled plastic, opens a loading capacity of 800cum/24TEU, the flush deck will be equipped for stowing a deck load of 20TEU or similar. The sailing equipment bases on a 2-mast schooner, fore-and-aft-rigged with foresail plus jib over a head-boom, alternative staysail rigged. The foresail will be designed as a boom jib for self-tacking, the sails management will be assembled in whole with hydraulic furling systems. In the actual state of planning, the mainsail is build masthead-rigged plus a conventional derrick VELLE-system with a SWL ~ 30t .
The ship of course is fitted out with a sufficient engine, bow thruster, all the modern navigation and communication gear and a free fall lifeboat at the stern.
loa 69m
beam 15m
lhull 58m
sail area up to 1800sqm
freighter configuration – 8-10 crew
Because of the size and equipment on board the ship will be able to sail long routes in the North Sea, Ireland as well as Scandinavian ports
The main commercial benefit of these vessels will be the fuel savings on more than 40% of its operating distances, a projected fuel saving of ~ 12t / month
Optional – we also plan a LNG-based version with 400 cum LNG-tank under the forecastle-deck
In a cooperation with REAP Systems Co (UK), Ludwig Meister, Dachau (Germany) an LNG-engine supplier we will reach the goal of ”0-emission-phases”, a combination of LNG-based engines, e-motors / generators and hydraulic aggregates plus power storage will enable us in phases of pure sailing to supply the hydraulic sail management without any demand of fossil energy sources.
Utilizing all modern development on engine and generator technics and using the sails in the different options with sail areas of 1200 up to 1800sqm, the ship will be able to hold a speed of 10kn under sail and 12kn under engine drive.
Handling with the sails will be supported by hydraulic furlers and winches, all functions are controlled by a central panel on the bridge, plus external switch panels on different positions on deck.
